The story began when four best friends got together in a college band. MOCCA is an Indonesian four-member band formed in 1999 in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The band’s musical style is inspired by the retro sounds of the 70s, with influences of swing, bossa nova, Swedish pop, and jazz. MOCCA loves to called their musical style as story-telling pop. With their simple and beautiful songs, all in English, the band gained popularity across Indonesia, and surprisingly neighbor countries do like them. MOCCA has performed plenty of times in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and all the way in South Korea.
The core of the band is Arina Ephipania, the cute vocalist who can play the flute and tap dance, Riko Prayitno on guitar, Toma Pratama plays the bass, and Indra Massad on drums. When playing live, MOCCA is supported by additional players on keyboards, trumpet, and trombone.
Their debut album called My Diary was released in 2002, their second album “Friends” in 2004, and the third album “Colors” released in 2007. The band went on hiatus in 2011. They returned in early 2015 with their new album called ‘Home’. It is an album about their journey and longing for home.
